Gum disease is one of the things that we’re really passionate here at the office because our gum tissue is the foundation for the rest of our mouth. There are a lot of systemic connections between gum disease and Alzheimer’s, and gum disease and cardiovascular. So we tend to focus on those a lot. One way is getting the right diagnosis. And we pride ourselves on diagnosing correctly here at the office and getting things recognized early so that we can treat it earlier.
We can treat those really easily initially by doing a simple deeper cleaning or periodontal therapy. If we wait until it gets more complex, we bring into the equation surgeries or more difficult things, extraction of teeth. It’s always easier to do it when it’s just a little different cleaning that our hygienist can do while you’re in the chair. It’s less scary and less invasive.
